In the Non-fiction Workshop, student writers are taught how to take real life events and hone in on a powerful moment to write about. Skills learned in the nonfiction workshops include:
- Identifying the elements of a compelling personal story.
- Effective use of tone - is my story funny or sad? Or somewhere in between?
- Using language to distill a moment or event in time.
Each student has the opportunity to complete a personal essay of his/her own.
**Parents will be invited for the final celebration reading!!!**
